Florida’s Peace River Valley is set to greatly benefit from a $47 million conservation initiative. The funding for this conservation initiative comprises $21 million from the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and an equal amount from Florida’s Rural and Family Lands Protection Program, with an additional $5 million from the state’s Florida Forever program. The goal? To secure habitats for endangered species like the Florida panther, support natural floodplains, and preserve our natural resources and food supply.
